Mrs. Olivia Griffith

Congratulations to Mrs. Olivia Griffith, April Staff Member of the Month for Wellsville Junior/Senior High School. Mrs. Griffith has been at Wellsville Schools for 4 years as an Art instructor in grades 8-12.

Olivia graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 2010, then went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education, Visual Art Education, from Youngstown State University in 2014. She is currently enrolled at Western Governors University where she is working towards a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Mrs. Griffith has been the Art Club advisor for all four years and has had our art students involved in many events and activities. The students have carved pumpkins for the Millcreek Metroparks “Pumpkin Walk”, held a “Picture with Santa” event at Garfield Elementary, and are currently painting the walls of the High School where quotes will be written to boost positivity. The advanced art class was involved in the “Paint a Plow” program for the Ohio Department of Transportation. Mrs. Griffith and the Art Club were also in charge of painting parking lot spots at the High School. Each year Mrs. Griffith displays her students’ work in the Art Show which is held in conjunction with the Showcase. In addition, she enters students’ work in the Scholastic Art Show and the Columbiana County Art Show where they have received numerous awards.

Besides teaching at Wellsville, Mrs. Griffith is an art instructor at the Brazen Brush. She has worked for Mechling Concessions from her 8th grade year through the present. Olivia volunteers at her church, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and for the Red Cross Blood Drive events.

Mrs. Griffith has been happily married for 2 years to her husband, Richard. They have 2 cats, fur babies as she calls them, named Oliver and Erza.

Olivia’s colleagues will tell you that she is extremely patient, is a great listener, and is very passionate about her career. We are very fortunate to have such a talented individual as part of our staff. Thank you so much for all that you do for our students and for Wellsville Schools.
